Students are then asked to create a Venn Diagram, illustrating the differences of each text. Students are then asked to write a paragraph explaining which text was most effective and how it approached the topic successfully. Considerations students can peer teach when researching and looking for texts. Discussions on each text may be necessary. Learning Experience 11:Preparation for monologue. - 1 hour approx.

Learning Experience 10:Our Home - 1 hour approx.
Make connections between students’ own experiences and those of characters and events represented in texts drawn from different historical, social and cultural contexts(ACELT1613) Write using sentence structures, that include sentence fragments and single words, to emphasise , extend and explain ideas and information. (WC 6 vii) In this lesson, students draw on their own experiences in Australia and their family history. Students are to brainstorm Jack Jagammara's family dynamic and his heritage.
Students are then to construct a Venn Diagram using their own family structure. Presentation of the diagram is important, as students are to showcase to the class and explain the similarities and differences. After students have presented their Venn Diagrams, they are to write a reflections on 'Who Makes Up Australia.' Students should learn that Australia is a multiracial country, filled with many types of people and family units. Considerations As an assessment piece, work must be individual, however, support and scaffolding may be used in a limited manner. Consideration for students in a broken home or unusual living arrangements is needed. It is imperative that the teacher makes it clear that each family is unique and special. Assessment: The work produced in this lesson will be used as a formative piece of assessment. |
